Most PR practitioners understand that responding to media in a timely manner can make it or break it when it when it comes to client publicity. Successful practitioners also know how to take advantage of unforeseen opportunities quickly and effectively. Joe Mecca, marketing/advertising manager for Coastal Credit Union, will usher in a new year of RPRS luncheons to discuss seizing timely PR opportunities. His presentation will highlight how the credit union turned a competitor’s negative publicity into positive PR for Coastal and, in turn, doubled new business in October and November, as compared to a typical two-month time span. A past president of RPRS, Joe is responsible for directing Coastal's advertising, member communications, corporate communications, public relations and political affairs, as well as serving as the company spokesperson. He has been with Coastal for more than seven years and has 12 years of PR and marketing experience.
